This is a small hand painted glazed ceramic box with a unicorn on the lid of the oval base. The oval base is 3.25 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, and 1.5 inches tall. From the base of the box to the top of the Unicorn horn it is 4.5 inches tall. The base of this box is turquoise. This box has been fired twice each time to almost 2000 degrees and the finish is of high gloss clear glaze over ceramic under glaze paints. It contains no lead and is safe to handle. This Unicorn box would make a wonderful companion piece to the illustrated book, "The Legend of the Carousel", which is also available on this site. One of the main characters of this story is a Unicorn. This nice little box would thrill any little girl and be a perfect place to put her tiny treasures. It is also a unique piece to add to a Unicorn collector's collection.

In addition to loving to paint in watercolors I also enjoy working with ceramics, particularly using glazes and under glazes. I decided to produce these little Unicorn boxes because I thought they would go nicely with the story of the "Legend of the Carousel" as one of the main characters in the book is a Unicorn.
