WASHED ASHORE is that handmade, one of a kind (OOAK) necklace! It is created with aqua colored amazonite with pyrite, sparkling, faceted amazonite rondelles and sterling silver. Created by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, it is a uniquely gorgeous necklace that will take you from Spring into Summer to Fall easily!

I was transfixed by the these amazonite with pyrite gemstones when I first saw them. What fabulous patterns in the stones - such a cooling light aqua blue with swirly dark gray and white! The patterns remind me of a topographical map - of land that has been cut through by rivers, creeks and bays much, like where I recently lived in the South Carolina Low Country. Cut in an unusual rounded triangular shape, each of the amazonite with pyrite gemstones has its own unique pattern, both on the front and back. Be sure to check out the photos to see that.

To frame each of the amazing gemstones, faceted amazonite rondelles were used. They are the same cooling aqua blue color but have no pyrite running through the gemstones. One rondelles was placed between the stones on the front of the necklace and then three further to the back. Because of their faceting, they add sparkle to the necklace. Five amazonite rondelles end WASHED ASHORE.

Sterling silver 2mm beads were used to space the gemstones, to allow the necklce to drape gracefully when worn. Sterling silver wire protectors and a sterling silver hook clasp finish WASHED ASHORE beautifully.

Amazonite is thought to improve clarity of thought and social interactions, especially enhancing communications. It is thought to bestow truth, integrity and honor to its wearer. Pyrite helps one to communicate more openly and honestly, providing both emotional and physical strength., and helps to increase self confidence. It is a highly protective stone, blocking negative energies from other people. Silver is the metal of love and healing.

Kathy, who is co-owner of High Tide Beads on Hilton Head, SC, recently went on a buying trip to New York City. She brought back many lovelies, including these wonderful amazonite. Now when I walked in, I hadn't planned on buying anything not on my list, but I was mesmerized by the amazonite with pyrite and ended up walking out with it along with the amazonite rondelles.
