Unique geometric earrings made from blue fire flash labradorite cube beads, wrapped in sterling silver 925 and hung from hand forged, self locking sterling silver hoop earrings.

** Hoop earrings are made of sterling silver 20 ga wire

** Self locking silver hoop earrings measure about 1 1/4 inches (3.2 cm) wide.

** The sterling silver .925 wrapped labradorite cube bead adds about an inch in length to each hoop.

** As each pair is handmade when you order it, you should expect some slight variation to the picture shown.

I make each sterling silver hoop by hand. It is hammered and then slightly textured to add a bit of interest. I oxidize (darken) them to nice patina, and then tumble the hoops to bring out the shine. After a nice bath, each silver hoop is buffed to accentuate the hammering. I've wrapped a single ultra-flashy faceted labradorite cube in sterling silver, added some labradorite rondelle beads and hung them the textured hoops. The beads flash a wonderful blue when they catch the light.

*NOTE: these hoops are made from 20 ga wire...as with any smaller gauge more delicate wire, they will bend, so treat them accordingly. You probably shouldn't sleep or wrestle in them. :-) *

Why does labradorite have 'flash'? Labradorite stone is formed in layers. When light hits these thin layers, the reflections that are caused enable a shimmering effect, known as labradorescence, also called 'flash'. This flash usually appears as blue or green.

What is sterling silver? Sterling silver is a white, highly reflective precious metal composed of 92.5 percent pure silver and 7.5 percent other metal, usually copper. Copper provides the alloy with additional strength and hardness, that isn't otherwise the nature of pure or fine silver.
