One-of-a-kind 925 sterling silver bangle bracelet with orange lampwork glass beads - Pools of Fire

** This handmade silver bangle has an internal diameter of approximately 7 1/4 inches (18.4 cm)

** It will comfortably fit wrists from 5 3/4 inches (14.6 cm) to 6 3/4 inches (17.1). (The wrist shown in the photos is 6 1/2 (16.5 cm).

This one of a kind bangle bracelet is composed of multiple feet of sterling silver wire, lovely orange art glass lampwork beads, sterling silver beads and mykonos metalized donuts. The bangle components are set on substantial gauge silver wire, which has been formed into loops. I darkened (oxidized) the entire silver surface to really bring out the gorgeous orange in the beads. The sterling silver 925 clasp was made and hammered by me.

The beads in this bangle are some of my very favorite. The rippling design in the orange lampwork glass beads reminds me of the shimmery ripples of a summer time pool. Plus, the color of the SRA lampwork beads is fiery and STUNNING. This particular silver bangle bracelet was featured in an article in BEAD TRENDS magazine.

NOTE: The lampwork beads I purchase are from self representing artists (SRA). This means that the artist that has sold the bead to me is actually the artist that created the bead with his or her own two hands. It's important to me that, when possible, I know where the components I use in my jewelry are created. Plus, it's always a benefit for me to support other small business artisans in their work. Well, and the fact that the colors and shapes and designs of artisan created beads just aren't possible in mass created factory made beads.

Additionally, the quality of properly kiln annealed artisan beads far outweighs that of factory made beads. I've not had breakage or cracking issues with artisan made beads. This is pretty common for factory made beads, especially those manufactured overseas and not properly annealed after firing. If I sound like I'm on a soap box about this, I apologize. I simply want to ensure that you receive the very best quality components in the jewelry you receive from me.

So what is a lampwork bead? Generally, lampwork beads are made by melting and working glass over a flame, generally some sort of torch. Different tools can be used by the artist to make different shapes and there are a myriad of different glass colors that can be used. And even though they are made from glass, well made, kiln annealed (or hardened) lampwork beads are extremely durable. I've dropped beads many times, without breakage. However, even with their durability, if you drop your beads on cement or a tile surface, they can and do crack. Treat them as you would any other piece of art.
