Beautiful pink/yellow/red/purple/gold fabrics from Robert Kaufman's "Chasing the Rainbow" fabrics by Sherrill Kahn were used to create this lovely piece of quilted and embellished art.

Machine pieced background, with the Hamsa appliqued with coordinating purple thread. The Hamsa was embellished with leaves and flowers in colorful beads. The main flower is made from blue, purple and green beads, and the other flowers along the edges of the Hamsa were made from shades of purple beads. The vines and leaves were made from different green beads. EACH INDIVIDUAL BEAD WAS HAND STITCHED TO THE QUILT USING CLEAR THREAD.

The Hamsa is the blessing hand of the Goddess. This sign is revered by Jews, Christians, and Muslims, who often wear it as a protective amulet. It is also used as a symbol in Yoga. The name Hamsa means "five" in Arabic.

After layering the top with cotton batting and coordinating backing, I machine quilted the outside (not the Hamsa) with got cotton thread in a meandering stitch. The entire quilt was bound with the same fabric as the border and hand stitched to the reverse using gold cotton thread.

I always use the highest quality fabrics for the top and backing of all of my work. If you purchase a quilt from me, I will send you pins to hang it with, or will add on a hanging sleeve if you request it (please give me an extra day or two before shipping if you'd like a hanging sleeve added). You can also use standard quilt hangers to display any of my quilts.

I keep all of my quilts in air tight storage.
