The Story of this Legolas WOODLAND REALM ELVEN STAR LOCKET:

In Tolkien's writings Mirkwood was the largest forest in Middle-earth in the Third Age. Many of the trees of were very ancient and tall and the ceiling of the forest was a tangle of branches and vines that did not permit much light to pass through. Several Rivers flowed through Mirkwood.

There were many animals in Mirkwood, including black squirrels, deer, large black bats, giant spiders, huge moths, and black emperor butterflies in the treetops.

Legolas of Mirkwood became known as Legolas of the Woodland Realm and was one of the leading heroes of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings Trilogy. He was Aragorn's constant companion throughout the wars against Sauron. He became Gimli the Dwarf's best friend and ultimately the two left for Valinor, the Undying Lands. The forest was called Greenwood before Sauron built a fortress there, causing creatures such as the spiders to live there.

This gunmetal locket is reminiscent of the dark forest of Mirkwood, with its woven front panel. The gunmetal locket dangles from a lovely vintage brass butterfly. A gunmetal chain complements the locket.

The fae of the Woodland Realm have chosen to produce this lovely locket. Their wish is for the bearer of this locket to experience the mysterious world of this forest and the magic of the elves. The filigree butterfly is a symbol of transformation.
