Product Description
This listing is for one small (approx. 1 1/8 tall, 1/4 thick) wooden bear spin toy. The toy has two small wood spools (see image), which serve as handles to help protect little fingers against the pull of the string.

These bears are my favorite spin toys, they are a little smaller than the other toys in this line, but they spin really well because of the extra thickness, and the unique shape makes a very good noise.

I will include an extra string in case this one breaks. While the strings may wear out, the toy itself should last for a very long time.

Finish:

By default, your toy will be stained with an early American finish and coated with shellac. If you would rather have your bear unstained (like the lighter on on the last photo) just put a message in the notes when you checkout.

How to Play:

The disc has two holes drilled at its center, and a loop of string threaded through it. To play with the toy, grab the two spools and pull your hands apart so that one spool rests behind the joint of each of your middle fingers. Position the disc so that its centered slack on the string, then start spinning the toy away from you until the string on either side has several twists in it.

Once the string is twisted, you simply pull your hands apart with a little force, this will force the disc to start spinning, and when the string has unwound, the disc will continue to spin, winding the string in the opposite direction. This creates a yo-yo effect of sorts and the toy will keep spinning as you move your hands apart (when the string is twisted) and back together as it starts to untwist).

Safety Information:

The spools could cause a choking hazard, so this toy is NOT for children under 3. The toy can move pretty fast once you get it going, so adult supervision is recommended. All stains and finishes used are child safe and non-toxic.
Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
This is similar to the button toys you might have played with as a child. My grandma calls these flibbidididdens, theyre also known as finger pinchers, whirleygigs, sideways yo-yos and a few other things depending on where youre located.
