Product Description
Foolish Men.
Here are the last of the crew of the Ill-fated "Jeanette;" an American wooden sailing vessel built to travel in the iceburg filled Arctic seas.
On June 12, 1881, The Jeanette was crushed like a bug between two massive iceburgs and the crew escaped across the Siberian wasteland on foot.
Arctic explorers Lieutenant DeLong and his men with their unloaded provisions and equipment took off on foot across the Siberian ice pack and the ship sank the following morning.
Needless to say, they didn't get very far.

This outstanding wood engraving measures 7" x 10". The image itself measures 6" x 8." "Lieutenant DeLong's Journey" would be absolutely fabulous framed.
