This lovely 3.5" tall antique hobnail vinegar/ oil cruet is a mystery to me. I've been carrying it around with me since the 70s and it's certainly much older than that; as you can see by the pontil mark on the bottom. The handle was applied after the cruet was shaped and the glass was still in a liquid state.

The glass itself is crystal clear and quite lovely. There is a small crack 3/8" at the very top near the handle and the glass stopper vanished long long before me.

This sweet little handmade antique cruet will make the prettiest little vase you ever saw with a few spring Violets tucked inside displayed in a sunny kitchen window, or perhaps delivered on a breakfast tray for someone special.
