This charming picture is made of colored blades of straw. It is from Mexico and dates from the first half of the 20th century. The technique is called straw marquetry or straw art.

This example of straw art depicts a pyramid in the background with a Mexican man offering something to a donkey or burro. The picture is 3.5 x 5 inches and the total matted area is 8 x 10 inches. This is not framed but has a black mat under the straw art. Condition is excellent. The colors are still vivid and no breaks or missing bits.
