Isn't this a wonderfully quirky bead? It is a blown hollow bead, made in boro glass by Tod Brown, from Candy Glass. The glass is a lovely milky, creamy colour, with a touch of opalescence, and has organic squigles all over it. If you hold it up to the light, it is a deep amber. Most unusual.

The bead reminds me so much of the egg of a mythical creature, I had to name it Dragon Egg.

Rather than stringing it on wire the Egg seemed to want simpler and more natural treatment...and a nice length of brown leather thong fitted the bill. The Egg hangs about 14" down the thong. I finished off the necklace with two aurae opalescent halo beads from the lovely Melanie at Glassvalley, which match beautifully. The Egg itself measures 1 3/4" by 1 1/4".
