Framed Small Art Piece, Item 1009, Framed Size 9" X 17", Pattern 'Sun and Moon2'. I used CD's and spring clamps to resist dye a whole cloth piece, then cut it into smaller images, embellished with machine and hand stitching and foil.

I have been dyeing fabric and clothing for a number of years, but have been doing more experimental work recently. My husband uses a lot of CD's and DVD'S to record shows, and occasionally gets one that doesn't replay, so they went into my stash of items to be used in my art. When I used the CD's on this piece, I pre-dyed the fabric with warm colors first; then I accordion folded it, placed CD's in rows on top and below the fabric, and anchored them inplace with spring clamps. Then I overdyed with black dye, and got some really interesting images. I call the series 'CD Distortions'.
