DOMAINE DE CLAIRVILLE FINE VIEILLE Label, 1930-50s, 4 6/8 x 3 1/2
This picture depicting a castle overlooking the vineyard is actually the warehouse for the kegs of alcohol. They would be well prepared and inebriated when the vikings show up I guess.
The picture is ornately decorated with antique red & white grapes and leaves.
The unique label was produced for Maison J. Desmet-Maertens and his seal is prominently displayed.
Lithography had a huge influence on Advertising in the early 1900s because of the creativity and freedom it awarded.
Famous artists from all over the globe were commissioned to do these great works for early companies of all kinds, big and small.
