This Norman Rockwell Back To School Vintage Collector Plate is certified plate number 14083 B is an authentic registered plate in the only edition of "Back To School" the first plate in the collector's plate series Norman Rockwell: Coming of Age.

It is officially certified by this Society as a true "Rockwell classic" in which Norman Rockwell presents the everyday moments of childhood that become the lasting memories of a lifetime.

Quoted from the enclosed pamphlet "In "Back To School" we see a handsome young boy somehow familiar to us all, our son, our grandson, maybe even ourselves. He is the exemplary schoolboy - textbooks in hand, undoubtedly a new shirt and pants underneath his favorite coat and cap. But wait! He's forgotten something most important! How can he write his name and do his arithmetic without it! So, stopping by the general store (the same one he frequented all summer to buy pennny candy), he asks his friend the storekeeper for help. Today, he's making a very special purchase - a new pencil to start off the school year.

We can imagine the conversation between these two perhaps the old man has promised that this is a lucky pencil, and that the boy is sure to do well with it. "And don't forget to stop by after school and tell me about your first day," he will say. The boy, of course, is quieter now that summer is over - he will miss his daily visits to the store, but will certainly think of his old friend's kind words whenever he uses his lucky pencil.

The look of amusement and understanding on the old man's face is the heart of "Back To School."

This plate comes with its original mailing box as pictured along with its original Certificate of Authencity, and information booklet. This plate is in excellent condition with no chips, knicks, scratches, or crazing, it appears to have spent most if not all of its life in its box.

This is a beautiful plate and would make a great wall decoration, or displayed on an end table or in a display case.
