As quoted from pamphlet, Norman Rockwell created this exuberant Santa for a Pepsi Cola store display. Time has only enhanced the infectious merriment and high stepping holiday spirit of "Jolly Old St. Nick." As the 1989 issue in the Rockwell Society Christmas series, this vibrant portrait is a joyous testament to the ageless appeal of Norman Rockwell's art.

From the tips of his shiny red shoes, to the ruddy glow of his nearly as red nose and rosy cheeks. Santa's smiling face and antic pose suggest that the merry celebration is already underway. Perhaps he's kicking up his heels while performing a freewheeling holiday dance, or simply clowning for a group of laughing children.

Whichever, this Santa certainly knows how to spread Christmas cheer, it's almost as if he's waving at us, exhorting us to join in the holiday fun. The open box in the background with its colorful patterned Christmas wrapping paper seems almost three-dimensional, while the bright light reflecting off Santa's shoe - and even the Pepsi bottle - contributes to a sense of photographic clarity.

"Jolly Old St. Nick" charms us with the magical look of heightened realizm that is the essence of Norman Rockwell's art.

This plate comes with its original mailing box as pictured along with its original Certificate of Authencity, and information booklet. This plate is in excellent condition with no chips, knicks, scratches, or crazing, it appears to have spent most if not all of its life in its box.

This is a beautiful plate and would make a great wall decoration, or displayed on an end table or in a display case.
