This design is called agateware. 4 colors of clay (red, white, tan, and black) are thrown together on the pottery wheel to create the distinctive swirling pattern that is different on every piece. The body of the jar is 4.5 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter. With the lid on, the top of the knob is 6.5 inches high.
