This stunning winter floral scene is a three dimensional design wall hanging art quilt with burgandy flowers against a background of a snow landscape scene.
I have titled it "caught by the storm" as flowers still in bloom are caught by the an early snowstorm of fall.
The burgandy flowers are created with felt that has threadwork and burned edges. The centers have embroidery stitches and are embellished with beads. The edges are left loose for a three dimensional look.
The leaves are loose edge appliqued green fossil fern fabric and silk leaves.
The snow on the flowers and leaves is created with cutouts from white felt and white yarn.
The snow of the background is created with layers of white fabrics, organza, yarns and tulle.
The trees are loose edge appliqued to the surface with stitch work and white yarns for the snow affect.
The art wall quilt is machine quilted.
The backing fabric has been stitched to the piece and then turned for a crisp finished look to the edges.
It has a hanging sleeve on the back for a dowel (not included) and has a signed and dated label of the artist.
The quilt measures: 35 inches wide and 29 inches in length
