Maybe she was wearing this one of a kind, handmade bead embroidered and beadwoven necklace.

The focal piece is a handmade ceramic cabochon by Marsha Hedrick of Amazing Porcelain. It is accented with Japanese seed beads in three colors and two sizes, backed with a piece of soft, black Ultrasuede and finished with a fringe of seed beads and genuine black onyx drops.

The hand-stitched neck strap measures approximately 19 inches long and is finished with a gold plated base metal hook and eye clasp. The strap has also been embellished with a series of fringes using more of the black onyx drops.

When ceramic artist Marsha Hedrick asked me to design some beadwork using her new line of cabochons, slides and cones, I jumped at the chance. This piece definitely challenged my creativity - the shape of the cabochon alone was fun to bead around (no boring shapes here!), and I had to delve into my bead stash to find some blue seed beads - blue is not a color I often use! When I was contemplating the fringe, the black onyx drops just seemed to appear as I was searching for something else. They all came together perfectly to form this one of a kind beaded necklace.
