Pine cones have long been a favorite decorating element. Not only for rustic log homes, but where a less frilly, more country or manly design is desired.


Personally, I love the woodsy look and this would be a terrific design for my home in the forest of Northern Idaho.

In this example, I painted the surface deep, rich brown. Pre-tinting the joint compound with craft paints, I did the pine cone portion in lighter brown and the needles in green.

Once dry, I sponged over the top of the entire surface with light brown paint mixed with translucent wall glaze, and then added just a touch of metallic gold paint to the pine cones to give them an elegant touch of glimmer.

Raised Plaster Stenciling is easy! If you can butter bread, you can create stunning raised designs on your walls, furniture, cabinetry, craft items and more!
Simply tape the stencil to the intended area, spread pre-mixed joint compound (found at all home improvement stores) over the stencil openings, un-tape the stencil and peel it back to reveal the design.
Allow to dry then paint with wall paint or seal with sealer.
