Perfect career and work-to-dinner, or informal cocktail dress. Ca. early 50s, this slim sheath is made of fine worsted wool in a most lovely color. Hard to describe, with soft, subtle shades of blue, green, and grey; we're calling it a heathered teal. Great detailing, with long waist-to-bust bodice darts and corresponding stitched-down hip darts that angle in. The effect is a geometric angled shaping--extremely flattering! Also has kimono-style sleeves, front button closure, slim-fitting skirt with back kick pleat. Skirt has been shortened and also has a very deep original hem allowance in addition to the extra from shortening; it would have an even straighter, slimmer line if let down. No label, but appears commercially made or custom made by a professional. May have been altered at some point, as some seam allowances are edge finished with machine stitching, and others are hand overcast.

Condition: Near mint, aside from noted alterations--which don't show and don't detract at all. Missing original belt; belt shown not included, but if you need a black belt, I can probably find one to toss in with this; just let me know!

Size: Approx. small, modern 4 to 6. Please use the garment dimensions below to determine fit! We suggest you compare to a dress you have of similar style or fit. For a fitted, non-stretch garment such as this, typical allowance guidelines are approx. 2" to 2 1/2" at the bust, 1/2" to 1" at waist, and 2" to 3" at hip.
