Product Description
This late 50s/early 60s Chanel-style open cardigan is from Tabak of California. Made of fluffy, lightweight, open-weave mohair, it's not a winter sweater--well suited for work in an air-conditioned office or for spring, summer, and fall evenings that get chilly when the sun goes down. Also great for cruises and resort locations like Vegas. Has bound edges, above-the-wrist sleeves, straight lines. Coordinates with the "mad men" silk wiggle dress we have separately listed.
Condition: Excellent, no flaws that we can see. You may spy some larger "openings," but those are due to the loose weave and nature of the knitting process; they are not holes.
Size: Estimated extra-small to small. But go by the dimensions below! We suggest you compare to a garment you have of similar style or fit. There is a bit of stretch to this.
*Bust: Approx. 36"; *Around hem: 34"; Length: 19 1/2" down center back.
* Taken flat on front & doubled

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

She was the favorite designer of actress Martha Scott and dancer Ann Miller. In addition to working for Tabak, one of the leaders of the California sportswear industry, she was head designer for Phil Rose and other firms, including her own label. Her apparel and sketches have been featured in the Fashion Institute of Technology, and she is widely credited for pioneering the separates for which the California sportswear industry was famous. Her designs were made to flatter the female shape, and are very classic.
I have a huge collection from her estate and am pleased to offer pieces from it. Some of these are runway samples, spec or sample pieces, and pieces from her own personal wardrobe. Ms. Saltern's timeless designs, along with their exquisite fabric selections and execution, mak
