Last fall Mr. Wayne (aka, hubby) went to California to visit his father, and he brought back a pirate's trove of Victorian antiquities. You see, Mr. Wayne's father, Mr. Wayne, owned and operated an antique shop for a loooong time in Aptos, CA, which has long been closed. This pirate's trove was kept in his private collection and recently released to me. Knowing that my customers are educated buyers, I decided to take everything to a bona fide Heritage Auctions appraiser to get the low down on every piece. I have about one dozen of the fobs, so please excuse the repeat of my introduction.

Watch Fob No. 11
This piece is an Edwardian funeral or mourners watch fob. It must have been owned by a funeral director because the black silk ribbon is well worn and frayed on the edges. It is a complete fob with toggle bar and swivel clasp which are fully functional. It is unsigned. The metal is rolled gold plated, gold fill. This fob is in fair condition but with lots of character. The design is floral on the metal parts. It measures 6 3/4" long from the top of the swivel clasp to the bottom of the toggle bar. It measures 5/8" wide.
