Inspiration/Story Behind This Product
The poem on the label is as follows:

Handsome honey (might sound funny) I know it's not just me
who if I dared (I shan't be scared) to bring you home with me,
but (like mom said) I think instead I'll leave you where you be,
because (my beau) you never know just where the dogs have peed.
"Sunny Honeysuckle", imagined March 2010

In 2005, I began making candles and formed the company Waxing Poetic out of a desire to create the best candle possible for my home, in scents that I couldn't find elsewhere in stores. Things may have changed a bit and some of the fragrances may seem familiar to other candle companies, but I strive to blend the most fragrant, balanced, and true to life scents possible.
The company name is a play on the idea of candles (wax) and poetry together, while maintaining the idea of "waxing poetic" about a better ideal- in this case, a better candle. I use a cotton core, lead free wick, phthalate free fragrance oils, and zero dyes to make what is possibly the cleanest burning candle you've ever had. Why do I not use dyes in my candles? Because there's no such thing as a safe candle dye. Dyes contain benzene- a toxic substance- that is released into the air in minute amounts as a candle burns. Even if you've tried other soy candles and still have headaches or allergies, it's quite possible that you're not allergic to soy per se; rather, you might be experiencing a reaction from the wax dyes in your candle. And really- do you need a candle to be orange to tell you that it smells like pumpkin pie? No. The candle should speak for itself!
The "Poetic" part of Waxing Poetic is tied to the label on these Classic candles. In addition to giving each scent a fun or unique name, for every Classic candle scent I write a poem about that candle or fragrance, or the inspiration behind that candle, or what the scent reminds me of. Most of the time they're funny or tongue-in-cheek poems, but sometimes they're simply memories that I think everyone can relate to. Please take your time on the site, check out the poems posted that are on each label, and enjoy yourself! Until they invent a computer that can transmit scents and smells, I hope my descriptions of the fragrances will suffice. Waxing Poetic- the best thing to happen to candles since the wick!
