Three genuine Aquamarine chips are accented with pretty handmade spiral headpins and handmade earwires. Aquamarine is a birthstone for March and Scorpio.

Measuring approximately 1 and 1/2 inches (or 3.8 cm) from the top of the earwire to the bottom of the dangle, these hypoallergenic earrings are very lightweight and comfortable. The handmade and hammered comfort fit earwires are made with the center of gravity in mind so that they will not work their way out of your ears during the day.

All the wirework on these hypoallergenic earrings is handmade by me from enamel plated copper, but these can also be made on different color or material earwires and findings, even traditional fishhook earwires, leverback or euroclasp, etc. Just ask!

While silver color, these have no silver or nickel content, making them suitable for people with both nickel and silver allergies, or if you just don't want to deal with the tarnish associated with fine silver.

Aquamarine is actually a Beryl, the sea-blue-green sibling of Emerald, Morganite, and Heliodor. They Beryl family gets its name from Aquamarine, which translates from Greeks "beryllos" meaning a blue-green precious sea-water stone. If left out in the sun, these stones can lose their color and fade to nearly clear. These particular stones have been heated to bring out their natural color. Aquamarine is a surprisingly hard stone, even harder than quartz.

Metaphysically, Aquamarine is a stone of courage, fortitude, and protection, sharing a special affinity with sensitive people. Its calming energies reduce stress and quiet the mind while promoting tolerance and quelling judgemental thoughts.

Aquamarine is also reputed to be highly protective during pregnancy, helping to guard both mother and baby from harm and discouraging miscarriage. Naturally, Aquamarine is attuned to the sea, and is also thought to offer protection to sailors and anyone travelling over water.

In crystal healing lore, Aquamarine is helpful to sore throats, swollen glands and thyroid problems, regulating hormones and growth while assisting the immune system and reducing allergies. Aquamarine is associated with the throat chakra.

These earrings are 100% nickel-free, lead-free, and hypoallergenic. The findings are made from enamel-plated copper wire, giving the look of silver without a risk of tarnish. Enamelled copper is also extremely hypoallergenic, making these are as safe to wear as acrylic. The 100% copper underneath is nickel-free and lead-free with no actual silver content, making them suitable for new piercings as well as individuals with both nickel and silver allergies.

Upon request, any of my earrings can also be made with different material findings, including 22K Gold-plated surgical grade stainless steel (recommended by Simply Whispers), .999 fine silver plated surgical grade stainless steel, natural brass (bronze), solid copper, or enamel plated copper (in a variety of colors). The enamel plated copper is the most hypoallergenic of these materials, though it does not offer quite the same look and shine as fine silver or 22K gold.

Another factor to consider is that fine silver tarnishes quickly and splotchy, solid copper tarnishes somewhat slowly, brass tarnishes slowly and evenly, and the 22K gold and enamel do not tarnish at all.
