The earthy colors of reddish clay and mossy green mingle together with a touch of soft peach in these genuine Unakite gemstone earrings. Sometimes called Epidotized Granite, Epidote, or Unikite, these stones have a lovely and fascinating mottling of super-earthy richness.

Measuring approximately 1 and 1/2 inches (or 3.7 cm) from the top of the earwire to the bottom of the dangle, these hypoallergenic earrings are comfortable and of average weight. The comfort fit handformed and hammered earwires are made with the center of gravity in mind so that they will not work their way out of your ears during the day.

All the wirework on these hypoallergenic earrings is handmade by me from natural brass, but these can also be made on different color or material earwires and findings, even traditional fishhook earwires, leverback or euroclasp, etc. Just ask!

First discovered deep in the Unaka Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, Peach Feldspar formed in Quartz rich Granite, while green Epidote precipitated out of nearby magma flows, and it is this marriage of elements that gave birth to a beautifully balanced gemstone.

Metaphysically, Unakite represents balance and coming together, and is thought to be highly helpful with healing of abandonment or separation issues and clearing energy blockages, as well as learning to focus on the present instead of the past. Unakite is a gentle yet protective stone, promoting self-confidence and growth by balancing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves. The Pink Feldspar in Unakite encourages healthy self-love and acceptance, which in turn allows you to attract and keep the love of others. Plants are especially fond of this stone, and some people will place a piece of Unakite in the soil next to their plants. Unakite is associated with the heart and third eye chakras.

In crystal healing lore, Unakite is used to help protect mother and baby during pregnancy and birth, and is also thought to assist both female and male reproductive systems in general, and is recommended for those recovering from an illness. Unakite is most widely used to "clear electromagnetic smog" from televisions, computers, cell phones, etc.

These earrings are 100% nickel-free, lead-free, and hypoallergenic. The findings are made from natural brass, which is 85% copper / 15% zinc, both minerals that are biologically necessary for life, so they cannot cause an allergy.

Upon request, any of my earrings can also be made with different material findings, including 22K Gold-plated surgical grade stainless steel (recommended by Simply Whispers), .999 fine silver plated surgical grade stainless steel, natural brass (bronze), solid copper, or enamel plated copper (in a variety of colors). The enamel plated copper is the most hypoallergenic of these materials, though it does not offer quite the same look and shine as fine silver or 22K gold.

Another factor to consider is that fine silver tarnishes quickly and splotchy, solid copper tarnishes somewhat slowly, brass tarnishes slowly and evenly, and the 22K gold and enamel do not tarnish at all.
