The style of the pen is Mesa ballpoint with Platinum and Black appointments. This one-piece twist pen is similar in styling to the Sierra & Gatsby, but with the lower band having rows of inlayed black diamond shapes. This is a really elegant and intricate looking pen, that would make a great gift. At 5 1/4" in length the Mesa pen is well-balanced and comfortable to hold.

The pen is supplied with a Private Reserve Easy Flow 9000 M (Parker® style) ink refill made by the Schmidt® company in Germany. The 9000 refill utilizes a specially formulated ink that has a lower viscosity than regular ballpoint ink. This creates an ultra smooth and easy feel as the writing tip glides effortlessly across the paper. This special refill dramatically changes the way your ballpoint pen writes. Essentially giving it close to a roller ball feel, but with the convenience of a ballpoint. A standard Parker® ballpoint refill is also included for those who prefer the conventional feel of a ballpoint refill. The refills can be purchased at your local office supply store.

The wood used in this pen is Hackberry (Celtis adolfi-friderici) which is native to the African countries of Benin, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Tanzania, Togo and Uganda. The trees are described as tall, attaining a height of more than 115 feet with a trunk diameter reported to vary from 2ft, 6in. to 3ft. 8in. The pen was made from a solid piece of wood. The upper barrel has been hand turned and finished on a wood lathe. Because they are each done by hand, no two will be exactly alike.

The pen has been treated with a clear Danish oil finish and then polished to a high luster with multiple grades of high quality polishing compounds. A final application and buffing with several coats of Carnuba wax complete the finishing process. The finish is very durable and resistant to moisture and oils from handwriting. With proper care you should be able to enjoy your pen for many years to come.
