The style of the pen is an Engraved Football Theme Rollerball pen with Chrome appointments. At 5 5/8" in length when open (5 1/8" closed) the pen is well-balanced and comfortable to hold. The most popular themes in clip pens have been transformed into these top of the line rollerball pens. The Chrome finished cap is deeply etched with the Football Player design that wraps completely around the cap and is highlighted with black enamel. The cap fits onto the end of the pen when in use. Rolled detailing on both the tip and end add an extra touch of class. The clip has a punched out design that adds to the overall look of the pen. This one of a kind pen will make a fabulous, personalized gift for everyone on your list. The pen uses a Parker® style rollerball refill that can be purchased at your local office supply store.

The wood used in this pen is Wavy Black American Walnut (Juglans nigra). The mature tree is described as rather large. It is reported to attain a height of 70 to 90 feet (21 to 27 m), with a trunk diameter of 24 to 48 inches (60 to 120 cm). Boles are reported to be often clear of branches to 50 to 60 feet (15 to 18 m). Although Black walnut lumber is reported to be available, supplies are not as abundant as they once were, and its use is reported to be down because of high prices. American black walnut, which is reported to produce the greatest variety of figure types than any other tree, demands a high price because it is so well respected that buyers are not deterred by the price. The color of the heartwood varies from light grayish brown to deep chocolate brown to an almost black purplish brown. The appearance of the wood is usually described as warm and inviting. The wood is famous for its wavy, curly and mottled figures which are obtained from burls, crotches and stumpwood and the piece used in the pen is a superb example of those characteristics.

The barrel has been hand turned and finished on a wood lathe. Because they are each done by hand, no two will be exactly alike. The pen has been finished with 15 coats of Cyanoacrylate, (CA), and then brought to a ultra high gloss with a high quality polish. A final application and buffing with several coats of a high quality wax completes the finishing process. The finish is very durable and resistant to moisture and oils from handwriting. With proper care you should be able to enjoy your pen for many years to come.
