I was cleaning out the house and found some of the quilted wall hangings I had done for various challenge projects and think they should have a better home than my closet, so I offer them to you.

This quilt was done for the "black & white & red all over" challenge. When I got the fabrics, all I could think of was the Peter Gabriel song "Biko", a wrenching song about Apartheid violence and hatred, so that was my inspiration.

Some of the lyrics are hand-written on the front of the quilt with fabric marker. The verses I chose are:

"When I try to sleep at night,
I can only dream in red;
the outside world is black and white
with only one color dead.

You can blow out a candle,
but you can't blow out a fire:
once the flames begin to catch,
the wind will blow it higher."
