Shop Announcement

Thank you for coming to my pysanka shop, and welcome! A pysanka (plural: pysanky) is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated using a wax-resist(batik) method. More of my art is available for sale in a small shop in Riverton, Utah in Our Home to Yours: 1751 West, 12600 South, next to Peterson's.The word Pysanky comes from the verb pysaty, "to write", as the designs are not painted on, but written with beeswax and colored with dyes. Ukrainians have been decorating eggs for many generations. Pysanky were decorated to summon Spring, to protect from evil, and given as gifts with individualized messages of good will. Pysanky are filled with symbolic art and colors. The Descriptions of these explain the meaning of the symbols and colors on them. Pysanky make great ornaments, decorations and gifts for any occasion. All pysanky will be shipped carefully with a gift box and a stand. Thank you for visiting and for your interest in my work. -Lauren More »
