There is alot of discussion going on right now about SEO and how it affects your sales and your business.  Drastic changes to a venue can be one of the biggest threats to your success as an on-line seller, and we understand this.  As a fellow seller, I have learned this lesson the hard way, and know all to well, how easily a venue can forget who they really work for.

Our commitment is to our members, and we measure our success at ArtFire a bit differently than other venues.  You see, we don't have a fiduciary duty to Venture Capitalists here.  We don't have to show growth in profits at your expense to stay in business.  This makes our priorities align more with yours and it changes our management and leadership philosophy.  We are only accountable to you.  When you are successful, we are successful.

So this week we are going to introduce you to some of the ArtFire behind the scenes NINJAS that you have not met before, and we don't often let out of the basement.  Our SEO and SMO operators that keep ArtFire at the top of the Search engines and your items seen by millions of visitors each month, will be joining us in the Forums this week to answer your questions and help us all optimize our listings better!

There a few things that we take very seriously around here; your success, support of your business and your brand, and of course at the top of our list is SEO and SMO.  The SEO folks that you are going to meet report directly to me and they are the best in the business.  You won't find them in Fortune Magazine or Inc. Magazine bragging about how much money they make, but I do think ArtFire's success with SEO and SMO says much more about their ability to help you be successful than a national article could.

For example, Etsy and ArtFire's largest on site categories are for "Handmade Jewelry" and for the last six months (and still today) our team has held the #1 position on Google for Handmade Jewelry  in addition to thousands of other top short and mid-tail keywords.  We also take our long-tail search placement, or should I say, YOUR long-tail search placement very seriously and track changes made by Google that affect your Studio's standings on a daily basis.  In fact Google made changes just this week that our team responded to and optimized for.

As we move forward together as a community, our focus will continue to be on your success.  We will always support you in every way we can with innovative new tools and features, and by always keeping a eye on the horizon for emerging opportunities that we can all benefit from.

We thank you for your support of the ArtFire community and look forward to another great week of learning and growing our businesses together with you on ArtFire!

ArtFireSEO (182)

Hello to you all!  My name is Caleb Daniels and I wanted to introduce myself to the ArtFire community.  I've heard a lot of buzz recently about search engine optimization and it has been decided that it is time for me to step out from behind the scenes to see if there are any SEO questions or problems that I can help the ArtFire community with.

I usually have my head buried in SEO reports and white papers, but, as another part of SEO week at ArtFire John has asked me to step into the forums to give advice and answer questions where I can.  We will also be releasing introductory guides to SEO as well as guides for what you can do for SEO both on and off of ArtFire.

I consider myself a perpetual student in SEO as the practice and techniques of the field are constantly changing.  I do what I can to stay up-to-date in the field and I am always learning new techniques as search engines evolve to provide better results for their users.  If you have any questions for me I will do my best to answer them and if I don't know any answers I will do my absolute best to try and find out the answers for you.

So if you have a question you can feel free to email it to me privately at caleb@artfire.com or you can start a thread in the forums that has “SEO question” as part of the title.

ArtFireSMO (191)

Greetings ArtFire Artisans,

My name is Kevin and I’m heading up the social media team here at ArtFire.  Our social media efforts are a top priority here at ArtFire because of their exciting and endless possibilities.  Utilizing all that social media has to offer we can supply real time customer service, brand management, and member engagement.  Most of my day is spent tracking everywhere ArtFire get mentioned, so If you talk about ArtFire in your blog, on your twitter, or in a dozen other mediums I’ve probably read it!

A little background about myself and my experience:  I have a bachelor’s degree in finance from a Midwestern university, throughout college I did consulting work for several companies and helped with their social media initiatives.  Since graduating I have worked in the internet marketing field with a focus on social media.  I have been an active participant in the social media environment for almost five years now.

With the special focus on SEO this week, and SEO being a close cousin of SMO, John has asked me to be more available in the forums to answer any questions you may have about SMO.  We have several guides built to help you get started promoting your shop for free though multiple social channels, but I will to my best to help anyone looking for more information or specific advice related to social media.

I can be reached privately at kevin@artfire.com

Someone.... anyone.... please pinch me.

 Let me get this straight...

Sellers here are being offered help and support and answers to our questions?

Admin is accountable and available and actually cares about our input?

Our opinions MATTER?

Did I win the lottery or something?!

I think I'm gonna like this place!
