In the story written around the quilt, Emily and Maurice go to the park for the 4th of July festivities. As they rest under a tree at the end of a busy afternoon, Maurice leaps out of Emily's arms and into the basket of a hot air balloon. Emily jumps in, too, trying to catch him. The balloon takes off unexpectedly and away they go on an adventure! Or--was it all just a dream?
