Approx. 1/3 wool and the rest is cotton, acrylic, rayon, polyester, but we are unable to give exact percentages of each. Sorry. 5 twisted strands. This multi-strand yarn was originally purchased on new commercial yarn cones, then selected and hand-wound by dj runnels for a color combination you will not find anywhere else. All our yarns are soft enough for a sweater unless we state otherwise.

If you are just learning to cast on, practice knitting with one strand on large needles before moving to multistrands on smaller needles. Knitting with multistrand seems to be easier than crochet and virtually all knitters get the hang of it. I can knit it without even looking and yet I am not a terrific knitter. We have a 99.9%+ customer satisfaction rating as powersellers on eBay, mostly from selling multistrand yarn. Crocheters seem to adapt to it well, too, although I do not crochet and cannot make valid comparisons. After six years in business, shipping thousands upon thousands of yarns world-wide, I only know of one crocheter who gave up on it.
Weaving can be challenging. I weave with it and must keep my eye on what I am doing. Still, it can be done. And whatever craft you choose, multistrand yarn gives a far more creative look than the predictable look of variegated yarn.
