A matryoshka doll, a Babushka doll or a Russian nested doll, also called a stacking doll, is a set of dolls of decreasing sizes placed one inside the other. "Matryoshka" (Матрёшка) is a derivative of the Russian female first name "Matryona", which was a very popular name among peasants in old Russia. The name "Matryona" in turn is related to the Latin root, "mater" and means Mother. So the name is closely connected with motherhood and in turn the doll has come to symbolize fertility.

This is a most amazing and unique cane, made out from premo polymer clay usinge the millefiori technique.
Actually this is a cane made out of sevral diffrent canes in a process which takes a lot of time and expiriance.
This is rather large width cane which can be reduced into smaller/longer cane.
With this cane you can decorate variety of items like: pen, cup, plate, tea pot, etc...
To use it simply slice the cane (you can take part of the cane and roll it on a table to give it a smaller diameter) into thin slices and aplly them to the surface of the item which you decorate.
This cane is - unbaked - and should be baked in temperature of 130 C (266 F) for 30 minutes.
The cane is closed inside a sealed nylon bag to keep it fresh and will be shipped inside a safe and hard box to keep it's round shape.

length - 3 cm (1.18 inch)
diameter - 3 cm (1.18 inch)

Inspiration / Story behind this Product:
Millefiori is a glasswork technique which produces distinctive decorative patterns on glassware. The term millefiori is a combination of the Italian words "mille" (thousand) and "fiori" (flowers). A. Pellatt (in his book "Curiosities of Glass Making") was the first to use the term "millefiori", which appeared in the Oxford Dictionary in 1849. The beads were called mosaic beads before that time. While the use of this technique long precedes the term millefiori, it is now frequently associated with Venetian glassware. More recently, the millefiori technique has been applied to polymer clays and other materials. Because polymer clay is quite pliable and does not need to be heated and reheated in order to fuse it, it is much easier to produce millefiori patterns than with glass. - Wikipedia
