Inspiration / Story behind this Product:
Demeter was the Greek Goddess of the Harvest, and of Fertility. It is said that when her daughter Persephone was kidnapped by the God of the Underworld, Hades, Demeter walked the earth in despair, and a long winter descended upon all the land. Finally, Zeus, King of the Gods, asked Hades to release Persephone so that Spring, Summer and Fall could return to the land as Demeter's despair had upset the normal order of the seasons. In this painting, Demeter holds her staff in one hand, and a torch in the other, representing her night and day search for her daughter.
