These beads were inspired by the pewter pendant...the goddess Tonantzin..
I used 10 red jaspers as the meditation count beads set together with pewter spacerbeads and rutilated quartz the next 3 beads are a carved bone bead, crazy horse jasper and a denerated agate...small beads are coral, amber and a moonstone cube..
piece measures 9 1/2" total with rings at 5 3/4" and 7 3/4"

Some historians believe the icon of OL of Guadalupe syncretically represents both Virgin Mary and the indigenous Mexican goddess Tonantzin. Others believe the Virgin was a simplified and sanitized version of Coatlicue, the Aztec mother goddess.
