Lampwork Goddess Slider Focal! BELampworks

Found in 1908 in an Aurignacian Loess deposit near the town of Willendorf in Austria by an archaeologist named Joseph Szombathy, the Venus of Willendorf new resides in the Naturhistorisches Museum in Vienna. Dated at approximately 30,000 B.C., the statue is carved from Oolitic Limestone, and was colored with Red Ochre. Her diminutive size, and ample breasts and belly suggest that she may have been a symbol of fertility or plenty, although thoughts differ on this matter! The facelessness of the figurine gives it an air of anonymity and mystery. The figurines hair is braided in seven concentric circles... Seven in latter times being regarded as a "Magic" number used to bring about good luck! Our version of this wondrous "Earth Mother" is created with flame, and love, from imported Italian Morette/Effetre and or Lauscha Glass. (and, occassionally Borosilicate!)
