Trumpet vine is a perennial that can grow from 10-60 feet tall, so it needs a sturdy support such as a tree or trellis. It can also be used as a sprawling groundcover. It is hardy from zones 4-10 and grows in full sun to medium shade, although it needs sun to flower well. The vine can become quite woody, so you may want to trim it back every so often.
