This genuine opal cabochon comes from the Andamooka mines of Australia. Called "black" opal, this opal was a milky white, and was then specially and permanently treated to have a deep chocolate brown background, allowing the beautiful flashes of red, orange, blue and green to shine through. Much prettier in person!
