This is a packet of 20 seeds and quantities are limited. This is a gorgeous native flower with a bush-like form and deep blue flowers in late Spring to summer.
False Indigo is a perennial in zones 4-9, and is drought tolerant and carefree once established. It forms a deep taproot so does not like to be transplanted. This plant is a member of the legume family so forms a beautiful green bush with indigo blue flowers and black seedpods in the Fall.
These seeds were just gathered and if planted in the Fall to early winter, need no pre-treatment. If you are not planting these until Spring, you will need to soak the seeds 24-48 hours before sowing to help with the hard coating and germination may not be as high.
This plant was used in place of Indigo from India to dye clothing. Native American Indians used it for toothache, an eye wash, and the seed pods were used as rattles. If you break a stem, the sap will turn blue from exposure to air.
All of my seeds are harvested by hand from plants grown organically, without the use of any chemicals. Seeds are packed in plastic bags and are kept cool until shipment. Please convo me with any questions.
Thanks for looking and keep checking for more listings as the season progresses!
