Sparkling light aqua hydro quartz briolettes are dangling in teardrop sterling silver frames that have been hand coiled with fine sterling wire. The entire piece has been oxidised to enhance the texture and set off the stones. The handmade earwires are 21 guage, comfortable for all ears. The length including earwires is 1 3/8" and they measure about 1/2" wide. Hydrothermal quartz is NOT glass or cubic zirconium. The quartz crystals are grown from natural seed quartz under pressure and heat. Colors, some not readily found in nature, can be achieved by the addition of small amounts of other minerals such as iron or cobalt. Hydrothermal quartz is composed of silica dioxide, the same mineral composition as quartz from the ground. Amethyst and citrine are two varieties of quartz.
