Rose knew the key was to something important, but everyone she asked denied ever having seen the key before or knowing what lock it might open.

Determined to discover what portal might otherwise doomed to be left forever secured, she brought the key everywhere with her and tried at odd moments to open locks she discovered.

Within the home this was not a problem, but when she attempted to open chests in other peoples houses or padlocks securing gates in public places, comedic disaster ensured.

When her parents threatened to take the key away if she persisted in such behavior, she promised to only try locks on the manor grounds, but instead only became more surreptitious in her explorations.

To this day she has as yet to find the lock to which her key belongs.

A simple but elegant brass key is strung with striated brass beads on brass wire and chain, rescued from a vintage bracelet that had seen better days, and combined with carved cylinders of burnt serpentine, of a lustrous cinnamon color, with earrings to match. The necklace measures just short of 26 and fastens with a toggle clasp, while the earrings hang at 2 from brass earwires.
