The pincushion is filled with a mineral called “emery”. Emery is an abrasive that will keep your pins and needles sharp. The pincushion is covered twice to be sure that the emery doesn’t escape. It’s also quite heavy so it will support the bag below. It measures approximately 3 inches (7.62 cm) square.
The bag is made from two layers of cotton fabric. It has a rectangular base which allows the mouth of the bag to stay open, making dropping in your scraps effortless. (In fact, I often just snip threads and fabric right over the bag.)
Just turn the bag inside-out over a trashcan to empty.
It measures approximately 7 1/2 inches (19 cm) across and 6 inches (15.24 cm) high.
