This is a one of a kind handcrafted leather Hebrew CHAI pendant with a solid copper jump ring bail. The veg-tanned cowhide leather has been hand cut, designed, tooled, stained, sealed & polished to a nice sheen. This square pendant is finished on the front, outer edges & backside. I used a tea (or moss) green stain that allowed the grain and multiple natural warm tones of the leather to show through beautifully giving it an antique luster.

The copper bail has a large enough opening to accommodate a wide variety of necklace chains, cords or wires. It can be worn long or short both as a necklace or choker and would look stunning with a copper chain or dark brown leather or suede necklace cord. This pendant would make a unique gift for any of the Jewish holidays & special occasions such as bat or bar mitzvahs, Hanukkah or "just because". Unisex.

Chai (חי) is short for l’chaim (meaning “to life”) & literally translates as "life" or “living”. It’s comprised of the Hebrew letters Chet (ח or Het) & Yod (י) when read from right to left. Hebrew letters also have a numeric value (gematria):

Gematria of (Chet or Het) = 8
Gematria of (Yod) = 10
Gematria of “Chai” = (Chet + Yod) = 18
