A one-of-a-kind hand tailored black and white, wool herringbone Pirate coat, complete with a bright fuchsia heavy satin lining!
The coat will fit a size 18-20 woman, or a medium sized man (see measurements below).
It is decorated with deep, folded back, lined cuffs decorated with rayon frogs and decorative braid, which is echoed on the pocket flaps and down each side of the fronts. 8 silver plated buttons accent the front, and there are 2 silver buttons on each pocket flap...not matching but close to the same style as those on the front.
There are 3 16" deep godets in the skirt of the coat, one at center back of the wool herringbone, and one on each side which are of a brushed black wool.
The pocket flaps actually cover a smaller flap which conceals a pocket on each side. (See the inspiration paragraph).
Measurements:
Length from shoulder to front hemline..34 in.
" " back neck to hem...34 3/4 in.
Side length from underarm to hem...23 in.
Back across shoulders....18 in.
Back underarm to underarm seam...22 in.
Fronts..measured over bust/chest..13 in.each
The coat will actually fit at least
a 50 inch chest if not more, since the
coat is not meant to come together at
the center front.
Sleeve circumference (bicep) 20 in.
Armhole.....26 in.
Cuff depth....4 1/2 in. at the widest.
Hem circumference w/o godets....84 in.
Godet width and height ....16 1/2 in
The outer coat is hemmed by machine with a blind stitch, and the lining has been sewn in by hand.
Horsehair canvas was hand tacked to the shoulder areas of both front and back, as well down each side of front.

Inspiration / Story behind this Product:
This coat began life as a classic straight coat with lapels and inset pockets which originally was supposed to be added to my own wardrobe. It became an unfinished object (UFO) and hung in my wardrobe for a number of years. By which time, it was smaller than I was, so it became this super warm coat for a seafaring man flying the skull and crossbones.
