I smooth the ends to ensure comfort and good looks. The base metal is copper that is coated in green and then an enamel finish is applied to prevent tarnishing.

I have found them to be a perfect weight, holding their form, not bothersome to sensitive ears, and the enamel coating holds up very well. They are lead and nickel free. Perfect! I use them on most of my mid-priced earrings.
