If you're looking for a "cute" bat skull, I suggest you check out my other bat skull listing because this one is for a true to life bronze vampire skull with a face that isn't going to win any beauty contests. It was cast from a "real" vampire bat skull and I've photographed it on pictures of real vampire bat skulls at different angles to demonstrate the accuracy to detail. This little blood sucker is life size at 1" long and 1/2" wide. The highly polished jewelers bronze has the appearance of 18 kt. gold, and if allowed to tarnish will take on the wonderful patina of a fine bronze statue. The easily removable lower jaw is fully articulated, opening and closing just like the original skull. I've mounted it on a 24" raw brass flat link chain with a matching lobster clasp.

About Vampire Bats
Common vampire bats are small to medium sized bats, 2.5 to 3.5 inches in length with a wingspan of about 8 inches. Weighing between 1 to 2 ounces, they can consume 60% of their body weight in blood. Vampire bats have strong, well-developed hind legs, which affords them speed and agility on the ground. Their canine teeth are adapted for cutting hair and their large triangular incisors are highly modified to serve as sharp lancets to get the blood meal flowing freely. Their grooved and hairless nose contains infrared heat sensors to help them locate areas of rich blood flow closest to the skin surface of their victims. They have anticoagulant-rich saliva and a long, grooved tongue to aid their efforts. They only range in tropical rain forests from Mexico to Argentina and Chile and are also found on the islands of Trinidad and Margarita off the Venezuelan coast
