This Venus handbag is one of my creations that plays with 3 different fabrics. The outside is a solid burgundy cotton, paired with Alexander Henrys Nicoise Spice which is a print of concentric ovals in burgundy, purple and blue on beige.The 3rd fabric is the lining, a cotton lawn print of pink birds, blooms and branches on a cream background .
There are no pockets inside this bag.
Tabs with burgundy streaked acrylic buttons are used to attach the wood football shaped handles.
The closure is a magnetic snap placed inside at the center tabs.
size:
10 at the widest
7 center top to bottom
2 deep
6 1/2 wide wooden handles
Inspiration / Story behind this Product:
I wanted to make a bag that was a decent size, has easy access and was hand held. This is what I came up with. The first one I made was not split into different fabrics on the outside. That idea happened when I could not decide between 2 fabrics and realized I did not have enough of either, but they went together..so - poof! I used them both. The tabs for the handles have been attached various ways depending on the fabric type. The one thing that is the same for all, the tabs overlap the outside and have a decorative button attached. And the name - my son wanted it to be called The Alien because when it is opened, it looks like the pod from the movies. But I went with Venus...more like the venus flower trap - less creepy.
