A very dark brown (almost black) leather cloak clasp made with decorative horn buttons. The edges of this incredibly soft leather are the characteristic yellow from the way it was cured. This clasp will easily hold the weight of a heavy cloak.

This clasp was designed so that anyone with a sewing needle and upholstery thread can attach a clasp to their new cloak or cape - NO SPECIAL TOOLS REQUIRED! The holes are pre-punched so that you don't need a leather sewing awl to attach the clasp and you won't break your needles trying to push them through thick leather.

This clasp is perfect for making clothing and garb for the SCA, renaissance or other medieval or fantasy recreation group.

This one of a kind clasp was completely cut, punched, edged and sewn by a female hand in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Inspiration / Story behind this Product:

As a member of the SCA, a renaissance/medieval recration society, I was really tired of the few flimsy cloak clasps, or frogs, that you could find at the local fabric stores. They just didn't hold up to the weight of a heavy woolen cloak. And I didn't want to wait until an event to hopefully find a clasp. But even then, many of the clasps were designed to be pinned on your cloak, and repeated pinnings eventually ruin your fabric. Additionally, if you make your own leather clasp you have to have some specialized leather tools or you will break alot of needles and risk injury to your hand and your patience. I came up with the idea to make a clasp that anyone with normal sewing skills and tools could easily use and be proud of wearing.
