Having such a rich history and being so pervasive in our world, the form and content of books has influenced nearly all aspects of my creative life. Sometimes there is an idea that I need to develop, so I go looking for a book structure to express it; and just as often, it is the book structure that comes first and content follows. I dedicate much of my time to the study of historical book structures and take great pleasure in combining historic bookbinding techniques with modern materials; when I want to explore my ideas, I draw on these same historic techniques and materials to express them.
