Meet the Maker: BrightThreadsStudio

I began quilting in 1983, when I took a class at my local quilt shop in Tucson, Arizona. My first quilt was entirely hand pieced and hand quilted; rotary cutting hadn't been "invented" yet. From the very beginning of my quilting career I loved contemporary quilts that went a step beyond the traditional. I made my first art quilt for a Guild challenge, enrolled in an art class at the local college, and then returned to college as an art major.

I’ve been a fulltime studio art quilter since 1998. Along the way I have had the pleasure of seeing my work displayed in several national touring exhibitions and one international exhibit as well as being acquired by The San Jose Quilt Museum and the permanent collection of the University of Arizona. My work has been juried into a statewide art show in Utah, "Beyond the Bed: State of the Art Quilt" in Tampa, "Considering Quilts" at the Atlantic Center for the Arts - Harris House and " Fine Focus", a national show. I've had nineteen pieces shown in Houston at The International Quilt Festival since 2003 and two of my quilts have been chosen for books: "America From the Heart" and "Creative Quilting: The Journal Quilt Project".
